Catty. Chatty. And Occasionally Trashy.

Preacher Man

So that guy said this:

The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three strike law, and then wants us to sing God Bless America? No, no, no. Not God Bless America, God damn America, that’s in the Bible, for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating us citizens as less than human.

And everyone on cable is upset, saying it's so mean and untrue and insane.

Um, but the treatment of black people is one of the country’s most shameful legacies, and it continues today. Knowing that is a part of what makes us liberal. We know, or have at least heard, that the CIA assisted in the production and distribution of crack in poor LA neighborhoods to fund the Nicaraguan rebels so they could try and overthrow the Sandinista government. We also know, because it’s in all the papers and by using our eyes, that black men go to prison way more than any other kind of American, and often for nonviolent drug offenses, like the having or using of said crack. We also know that three strikes laws put more people—again, usually the black, male kind -- in prison for those nonviolent crimes. So yeah, God damn any place that treats its citizens like that, like stray dogs if not worse. A lot of people are pissed off about a legacy of shitty treatment. Nothing to denounce here.

Wow! I had no idea about the CIA assisting with crack production, but i guess it makes sense. Lame question, but do you have a citation for that? I'd like to use it in a research paper, haha.

way to say it, mockingbird! i wish more people would really examine what was said, instead of just hearing the part about "God damn America."

well, you can start with this, patknapp:

http://www.usdoj.gov/oig/special/9712/

executive summary: it disputes claims that CIA was solely responsible for creating the crack epidemic, concluding only that some CIA agents were involved with, and in some cases assisted financially or legally, crack dealers.

While I agree that blacks in this country have gotten a raw deal, they need to stop using it as a crutch to forever blame their desperate situations. Continuing to condemn this country instead of taking advantage of opportunities, starting with education, is only going to perpetrate this attitude of hopelessness. What's their alternative, to move back to mother Africa? Sorry folks, this country is as good as it gets for opportunity, there is a reason people are dying to come here. So stop bitching about things you can't change, get an education, and move on. Hopefully Obama can distance himself from these self defeating ideals and show black people that they can do anything they set their mind to, instead of bemoaning their past.

Crack is whack.. So are niggers.

Apparently blacks are racists too.
But is it okay for blacks to speak ill of America and whites? Anyone saying anything constructive for blacks is considered racist. I hate double standards.

Today's WSJ (A-6) has a column that states that the hate spilled out by Jeremiah Wright are typical and historical forms of (what I call) hate speech by blacks. Blacks have had numerous opportunities to become "equal" and have been given much. Most of the black community's response has been what Jeremiah Wright has espoused.

This is not a perfect world by any means but I wish the black community would wake up, see what they have been given, appreciate what they have accomplished, and just be happy, be normal. Quit trying to purposely set yourself apart from the whole of society. Whites don't ask you to be white, they ask you to be human, be normal. Do what you were really born to do: work hard, be polite, pay your taxes and enjoy America. Improve it if you can; don't just try to tear it down.
