Texas Transportation Commission Chairman Ric Williamson has passed away, according to state Rep. Mike Krusee, R-Williamson County.
How long before Krusee announces he's interested in the job?
You mean Krusee hasn't already announced.....
Sal, I think Ric's toll plans were dead wrong too, but the death of a political opponent is not a win. Without changing the hearts and minds of the people, we've won nothing. Let the best ideas win, and we can all be respectful of human life.
The problem is we need about 50 more brave intelligent people in Austin to push 'out of the box' solutions like Williamson did. He was a virtual genius about public policy, a bit crusty on the surface, but a serious genius. The kind of brain that makes most of politicians nervous. The general IQ of most Texans really keeps most of the legislature from making any bold moves. Williamson wasn't afraid to be bold. Too bad for Texas we've lost a person who could stimulate us to think beyond ourselves. He got up everyday thinking about the next generation and beyond.
Krusee's name has been floated for this position for months, and supposedly, the promise of this position was given to him which led to his not running for reelection.
Krusee said he'd done what he could do.
That's true.
It's time for him to move on to do other things.
whosplayin - Sal's SPOT ON. I don't want to dance on the man's grave but his 'service' to Texans has left the overwhelming majority far worse off than they were when he came into public service.
OOTB - Sure, but let's make sure they're not hell bent on pushing the wrong out of the box solution.
No, whosplayin is SPOT ON. Sal is over the top, as usual.
Obsess much, Sal?
Sal and McBlogger, can ya at least TRY to think about the family and not qualify that pathetic "I feel for the family" crap with something so completely insensitive as suggesting we're all better off?
For God's sake. That's so fucking tacky. I happen to agree with you on toll roads. But for once, be a human being and leave it with, "our thoughts are with the family" without throwing your agenda into a tragedy. My God. Everyone knows what you're thinking, can you just leave it unsaid FOR FUCKING ONCE?!
It's insulting and embarassing. And I didn't even know the guy.
People like you, Sal, and to a lesser extent McBlogger (only because you backed up that atrocious comment of his) are an embarassment to those of us who are unlucky enough to agree with you.
I think you're reading more into what Sal wrote than I.
McBlogger - that came out worse than I meant. I'm not embarrassed by you. I adore you. Just wish you wouldn't hitch your wagon to his.
That's all. xo, baby.
I feel for Williamson's family. A death in anyone's family is always very difficult.
But sadly, and to be honest, the rest of our families will be better off without Ric Williamson leading the charge to place the highest toll rate possible on our freeways.
