Huckabee Not a Compassionate Conservative

Presidential candidate and white trash former governor, Mike Huckabee, advocated isolating AIDS patients from the rest of the population. He also thought that celebrities should pay for AIDS research.

That's very un-Republican of him if you break it down. But, it's very typical of ignorant back-woods Baptists.

ja - huckabee is a scary-ass, bass-playin' dude.

what really scares me is that he has all the republican mo' right now and iowans seem to loooove him.

just because the dems seem set to wrestle back executive power doesn't mean i'm no longer considering ex-pat status =P lol

Eh... the only reason he looks good is because the others are so weak and stupid.

Maybe they are setting him up to be the fall buy in 2008. That would pretty squarely put the final nail in the coffin of the christianistas as a political force.

McTool is right, If Huckabee is the answer then the rest of the tools are doing a pretty piss poor job of selling themselves.

I love how Oprah has declared her minority status, I guess she should change her theme song to "I'm every black person". I'm not bitching. I hope she propels Obama right over Hillry.

Talking Points Memo had a post on Huckabee's response over the weekend. Click my name for the link.

In sum:

On Fox News Sunday this morning, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee denied that he ever called for quarantining AIDS patients in 1992, claiming that he "didn't say that we should quarantine," but that the onset of the AIDS epidemic "was the first time in public health protocols" that "we didn't isolate the carrier." [...]

Huckabee then asserted that he stands by his 1992 comments, saying he wouldn't "run from" or "recant" them.
