The PBS series, War, on KLRU or whatever is your local PBS station? It's a reminder of a different time. When wars were fought on a global scale and the cause seemed heroic and every person in America waited for the news and for their boys to come home.
Here we are, in the midst of war, again and everything is different.

Yes, AusJeb, I guess it's unfortunate that our current enemies aren't as well armed and organzied as the Nazis and Japanese. Damn it all to hell.

And let's not forget that things seemed more simple/less controversial back then in large part because the media did what it was told and did not dig into the things that the president and his merry men were not telling US citizens and, particularly, our military.

At one point during the documentary, they played a speech by Roosevelt where he clearly laid out our war objectives: Rome, Berlin, and Tokyo.
It was a stark contrast from our current President and his war in Afganistan to remove the Taliban only to switch to Iraq, and ignore the metazizing threat in Pakistan while beating the drums about Iran, Syria, and others.
