Taser Knee-Jerk

Since I haven't even watched the entire video of the kid being tasered at the Kerry event, I feel absolutely qualified to discuss it ad nauseum. Clearly this jackass kid should have been tasered. He was resisting arrest and causing a disturbance. I would like to have my own taser and when some asshole was "loud-talking" and disturbing me I could just take him out for a while.

Tasers for everyone!!

Then you need to watch it because it's pretty shitty, sure the kid was being a jerk but does it really take 6 or 7 cops to hold down one person, and then taser them?

I can see using a taser if you can't get control of the person but they clearly had him down and ready to cuff.

If that were my kid the UofF would be looking at a nice big fat lawsuit.

and why the fuck was he being arrested in the first place? for asking a few too many questions? and the audience (presumably a democratic one) just sat there and watched while this kid was being hauled away and then tasered for asking kerry questions. what a pathetic group of people.

anonymous at September 19, 2007 1:39 PM

The kid doesn't seem to do anything wrong and Kerry is even quoted as saying "I'll answer the question."

Sounds like an overreaction by some campus cops needing to prove their worth.

I've watched the video several times. Clearly the kid was out of line. He was immediately hostile when he was asked to step away from the mike. He had already asked SEVERAL questions and clearly wanted to cram more into his 15 mintues-o-fame. Personally, I love how it took him about 2.5 seconds to croosover from vigalante to victim.

The bottom line. Smart people know that you dont hostilly resist police intervention..stupid people get to enjoy 50 thousand volts of electricity courtesy of the local police force. Live and learn people.

The larger issue is the loss of civility in our society. People cannot agree to disagree. Serious discourse is replaced by shouting insults and obscenities. "Free speech" is allowed only if the speaker is "preaching to the choir". Dissenting views are not allowed, much less tolerated in some venues and on some university and college campuses. Legislators are no longer "honorable friends" but hostile enemies of the opposition party.

And we are shocked that someone gets tasered at a speech by a politician? How naive can we be?

The Doc at September 19, 2007 4:35 PM

Another example of Kerry not standing up to defend America. If he really believed in that young man's right to free speech he would have thrown himself in front of that taser and taken the hit hiimself. But we all know Kerry is just a p*ssy who'd rather braid Jane Fonda's hair with flowers than stand up for America.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZap, that video is some funny shit.

Cmon, if he was black, Jesse and Al and whole freaking Rainbow Coalition would be down there, and the ACLU would have already served papers...
