Don't Tase Me, Bro

I finally watched that video and I still think that little shit deserved to get tasered. When the police surround you and you don't comply then you're pretty much asking for it. I don't think it infringed on his freedom of speech at all. He was obnoxious and totally deserved it.

Protests at events are going to happen. I remember one campaign I worked on and we had people showing up in Pinocchio costumes to the events and I had to put volunteers all over the place with signs to block out these freaks from getting on camera. I didn't realize the White House had a full-on manual about it, cause that would have come in handy!

"I don't think it infringed on his freedom of speech at all. He was obnoxious and totally deserved it." Constitutional scholar you are not. First amendment rights apply even to obnoxious speech, especially to obnoxious political speech.

"That little shit deserved to get tasered. When the police surround you and you don't comply then you're pretty much asking for it." Perhaps you should reflect a little more on your posting three below this one.

Sorry, anonymous Constitutional Scholar, but you are wrong. First Amendment Rights would not apply in this case when the "Don't Tase Me Bro" assclown went from "political activist" to "criminal trespasser" when he was asked to leave.

The Fat Boy at September 20, 2007 10:28 AM

Why was he asked to leave? Because he was passionate? Wow, what a crime!

PD - normally I'm with you on a lot of these "annoying people" things. But here... I totally disagree. It's a clear example of the police abusing their power. And of the rest of the students being too lazy to lift a finger about it.

YogaFag at September 20, 2007 2:28 PM

Yeah, I doubt it was laziness. What were they going to do, rush the armed cops en masse?

AlexF at September 20, 2007 4:15 PM

Before that kid got tasered, he was pleading with those cops, saying "if you'll let me get up, I'll leave."

Those cops were perfectly capable at that point, of forceably removing him. They had an advantage six to one. Tasers should be used the same as deadly force. Tasers are deadly force and were completely out of line in that situation.

Being obnoxious is not a crime. F*ck those cops.

wow, you sure love them cops - !

Jesus B. Ochoa at September 21, 2007 7:35 AM

Is there anything more worthless than a campus cop anyway? I mean really, have they ever solved or stopped a crime?
I think you get more security from a Wal Mart greeter, Thank God those douche bags aren't allowed to carry guns or else the "don't tas me bro" kid would have been shot full of lead.
