Senator Hutchison assures us that the feds will not ask for us to return $200 million in federal highway funds because the state is cheating on how they accept bids for a highway project. The winning bid went to a Spanish company and that pissed some Texans right off. So, they wrangled a way for a home-gown white folk company to get the bid. The feds were all like "Hol' up a minute. That ain't right, bitches." To which Hutchison replied, "Aw hell no. This is Texas and if we want to do things the sketchy way that's the way we'll do it!" (DMN)

Uhm... the NTTA offer was better. The reality is that either way taxpayers will probably end up paying off the debt on 121. Given that, why allow a private company to exercise some kind of put option AND demand to have their anticipated profit paid by the state?

The state was stupid to have ever bought into corporate welfare bs like public/private partnerships.
