Fake Christianity, But a Really Big Church!

The Church that canceled the funeral for a gay veteran and the brother of an employee of the Church is mind-boggling to me.

Simons said the church believes homosexuality is a sin, and it would have appeared to endorse that lifestyle if the service had been held there.

"We did decline to host the service--not based on hatred, not based on discrimination, but based on principle," Simons told The Associated Press. "Had we known it on the day they first spoke about it--yes, we would have declined then. It's not that we didn't love the family."

How is that not going to be seen as hatred? They actually said that if a person was a murderer they wouldn't have had a funeral in their Church for them, either. Yeah...they just compared homosexuality to murder. I can't believe that this kind of thinking outweighs the grace and compassion that is really the foundation of my Faith. Why would anyone want to have a life that your entire belief system is based more on what's wrong and the million ways you're going to hell instead of the joy and serenity that life brings. My life is full of compassion, grace, love and happiness. If I went to a Church that preached the misery of life and how everything is a sin and you're going to hell, I'd get up and walk out and tell them they should all go home and kill themselves.

It's stupidity like this that ruins Christianity for everyone else. That poor family. I know in my heart that God's light is shining on them, in spite of what some dumbass hick says.

Sorry.. I gave on on "christianity" long ago.. too full of hypocrites and ignorant people.

They should have had the service in a more "gay-friendly" church. Remember what that real cute guy said in Queer as Folk? Straight people (really) don't like gays - and that means religious ones too..

we have hit a low bottom in the name of our Lord and Saviour. I am through with Joel Osteen and his family if this is the way they treat our gay veterans. what difference does his sexuality make to God? he turned away NO ONE. These fake Christians are so afraid that donations might slack off if they allow the funeral of a homosexual to take place. in their church. I wonder if they preach to a thief, liar, adulterer, etc., will their reputation be ruined for associating with these people. THE BIGOTS..I can't believe it. These are the people that COMPLETELY turn away would-be Christians. They look at actions such as this and say "Oh, my God...." If this is the kind of love Christ preached, I'll pass, and IS IT ANY WONDER WHY??? shame on them.....

A certain man went down to Texas, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

And by chance there came down a certain Floridian that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

And likewise an Oklahoman, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

But a certain Texan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

And the host unto whose care he had place him said: Why thou carest for this man, knowing that he has teh ghey?

And the Texan said: O Rly? I did not know that. Gimme back my two bits and let him die.

'Bout sez it all, doesn't it?

Sadly, not surprised. And, strangely, not disappointed either...
