Not to be ageist or anything, but maybe it's time you retire.

No way, PinkDome. Robert Byrd is an old-school orator. He's not going to talk to you like a friend. He's going to talk AT you, and you best listen. He take public speaking back to a time when it was an art form, not just your buddy Dubya or Bill sitting down for a nice chat.

PanzerDSS at July 26, 2007 6:15 PM

Right Panzy,

I guess you mean "old school" like when Byrd drops the N bomb and all.

Here's a litmus test for retirement; when you have to have your Depends undergarments laid out for you in the morning, it miiiiiiight be time to go.

His racial beliefs have nothing to do with his speaking skills. Hitler was evil, but the man could give a speech.

PanzerDSS at July 27, 2007 1:01 AM

This from the man named Panzer. Not helping your argument.

That said, Panzer is correct. My beef with Byrd is that the entire state of West Virginia is named after him. I swear before he retires it wants the state called "Robert Byrd Virginia"

BacchusXY at July 27, 2007 8:58 AM

Yea, the Hitler argument is always effective. Are you Marge Schott?

Also, when these fuckers hit their eighties, they should probably retire, I don't care how good a speech they give. I think a 60 year long career in the Senate is probably good enough for most people don't you?

anon at July 27, 2007 10:40 AM

I'm lost. Is he talking about pitbulls or soldiers in Iraq?

anonynothing at July 27, 2007 11:10 AM

Barbaric! Barbaric! Barbaric!

Don't you hate it how - when you say a word too many times, it loses it's meaning.

Byrd was refering to the abolition of slavery in this country. He's still pissed that that the side he fought on lost the Civil War.

anon at July 27, 2007 4:39 PM

Wow, Shatner's really getting up there.

John at July 27, 2007 7:38 PM

Nope, that's me that pissed about the abolition of slavery. Why, if we had not desgregated we wouldn't have all these problems we have today....
