One Whiskey, One Scotch, One Beer. (OR: How Senator Whitmire Got Some Lady Bartender Fired)

Finally! A "Don't You Know Who I Am?" Scandal Erupts! A bartender at the seedy bar adjacent to the Capitol has been fired for alledgedly refusing to serve Senator Whitmire one more scotch. According to the lawsuit, the bartender refused to serve Senator Whitmire a second scotch because he was visibilly intoxicated. Bartenders can get into big trouble with the law if they do that!

Well, she managed to piss Senator Whitmire right off and he said that he would have her job for this and when she felt threatened and said she would call the police he alledgedly replied that all he had to do was make a call and the police wouldn't come. OH how you all wish you were present to see Senator Whitmire in a pissing contest with a bartender!

So, what happened next? Bartender fired, d'uh. But, bartender recorded the conversation with her manager when she was getting fired and is now suing. Apparently, the manager of the bar was simply letting her know that the Cloak Room "never refuses to serve the senators" and "we won't get into trouble with the TABC" and "You're just like Melvin P. Thorpe all over again...you're about to ruin a good thing for everybody."

Mmmm, juicy.

This story highlights what's wrong in America today. There is no sense of distinction between classes anymore. The senator and a bartender are not equals and for a bartender to refuse to serve him is not right. She should have been fired if she can't get it through her thick head that rules for people like her simply do not apply to people like us. There's a reason he's a senator and she's a bartender.

what the bartender didn't understand is that whitmire is always that loud and boisterous. he probably wasn't drunk - just whitmire.

I'm sure Jane Nelson will be glad to hear the news about them not cutting off Senators

I hope that you're not being serious? "The senator and a bartender are not equals and for a bartender to refuse to serve him is not right." That's the biggest load of crap that I have ever heard!! I sincerely hope that you are kidding because if you're not then you are a huge hypocrite and elitest and should be ashamed of yourself and deserve to be taken out behind a bar and get the shit beaten out of you.

They kinda are bitches at the CR. I went in there last session with some peeps working for the capitol news service I worked for at the time, and they were straight hating on us younguns - real shitty service. But I can see them refusing to refuse service to the Senators.

The place is apparently a shadow of what it used to be; when Ds controlled the dome, it was the official watering hole. But when the moral scold Republicans took over, they looked down on the place...

She should have been more sensitive. He's just sour because "My Best Friend" can join him anymore.

KLBJ-AM in Austin talked about this this a.m., and a caller claimed
to be an eyewitness and said that the bartender’s account is
completely accurate. No one from Whitmire’s office has been willing
to come on the KLBJ-AM morning show, but they have a call in to Whitmire.

That bartender lady has always been a bitch to everyone. Always with that look on her face, like she smelled shit. I'm GLAD she's gone

Have you been to the CR? It DOES smell like shit and that nasty cave of a bar is certainly a place to work that would put joy in your heart....

The glaring question, which no one has asked so far, is, "Why the fuck would a State Senator be drinking such a shitty scotch?"
