Catty. Chatty. And Occasionally Trashy.

If I lived in Tyler, I would kill myself

Meet Stormy, the weather dog. The local CBS station finally found intelligence to put on the local news.

Seriously, if you were the mayor of Tyler wouldn't you try to pass a city ordinance against rampant stupidity? It'd be pointless, but at least the rest of the world would know you were trying.

Lousy copy cats! Channel 2 in Houston has/had Radar, the weather dog. A real, live hairy dog.

You know you won't be hating on them once the WWE Diva steps in as the anchor woman there.

She is all about the news.

Sabestian at June 11, 2007 9:53 PM

What's the problem? At least the dog is cute, which is more than you can say about ANY of the weather people in Dallas. And his forecasts would likely be at least as accurate.

kennM at June 12, 2007 5:47 AM

Unfortunately, even the dog looks offended by the whole thing.

sadstaffer at June 12, 2007 9:51 AM

For those of us that live in Tyler, we've come to realize that Channel 19 is the NY Daily Post of journalism in our unique city.

That being said, my house is going up for sale soon.

About 20 years ago I saw African- American girls in some sort of Rose festival pageant wearing antibellum style hoop skirts. Right then and there I knew Tyler was a strange place.

Weather forecasting hasn't improved a lick since Harold Taft ruled the DFW airwaves a while back. Now its just weather reporting.

cynical optimist at June 12, 2007 11:59 AM

There used to be a weather dog in El Paso---even got a writeup once in Texas Monthly. Eventually the dog moved on to a bigger market out of state.

Dave In A Cave at June 12, 2007 5:23 PM

Radar's been gone from Channel 2 for a while, but he was definitely a little less mangy than Stormy. I only wish I could say the same for Frank Billingsley.

It's just too darn bad all us ignorant Texans can't all be as smart as those geniuses who reside in Austin and the rest of Travis County. It would be a better world, or at least a better state.
