Since politics is a little boring for me today...except the Alabama senator getting punched. Let's talk about ABC finally firing Isiah Washington for creating a hosticle work environment. Even though this was blown up into a frenzy, the facts are that Mr. Washington violated company policies regarding discrimination and harassment in the workplace. (more after the jump)
Human Resources were wrong to delay his eventual termination for five months, but that's show biz. An investigation would have resulted in either a written disciplinary action with an action plan or termination most assuredly prior to a five month lapse.
If this had been you working for any national company with sexual orientation included in its policies on discrimination and harassment, your fate would have been sealed long before five months was up

Wonk, you are completely off the mark here. If sexual orientation is included in a company's policy against harassment, discrimination and hostile work environment then Mr. Washington completely violated company policies and is subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
This has absolutely NOTHING to do with tolerance. This has to do with creating a hosticle work environment for another employee based on guidelines set forth in the company handbook.
