This is not about the patrons at all, it's poetic justice for the sake of the workers. Using strip clubs to fund sexual assault programs is an admission of the invisible pool of victims the sex industry culls its workers from; a reminder of the rapists and incesters the perverts have to thank for that sizzling lap dance. It's brilliant.

So this money will be used for what now? Anti sexual assault? Get out of here, what could they possibly do to help prevent sexual assaults? Will they provide escrots for every woman in texas? Or those that flirt with perverts? Show me how this will actually help Texans and then we'll talk. Until then this law is just another way of getting free money from citizens of Texas.

This legislation was authored by Rep. Ellen Cohen, President and CEO of the Houston Area Women's Center. HAWC administers services to abused women, including victims of sexual assault. So yeah, she knows a little something about preventing violence against women. The first step, I would imagine, is to treat women like we are people. If you want to objectify women, it's gonna cost you $5. Fine by me.
