Governor, You HAVE to be joking.
Gov. Rick Perry said Monday that Texans who are legally licensed should be able to carry their concealed handguns anywhere, including churches, bars, courthouses and college campuses.
God, you're an idiot. [Chron]

Wow! That should work out well with the state's unfortunate persona of "going off half-cocked." What a moran! Proud of the fact that I voted for someone else.

Has anybody checked to see if Tom DeLay's hand is up Rick Perry's ass lately?

Yucca at May 1, 2007 9:00 AM

Yikes - so I suppose I can appreciate his comments from a limited libertarian perspective of personal freedom, HOWEVER:

Even if he was speaking legitimately to principle, he could have shown a modicum of tact and avoided mentioning college campuses given recent events.

Indeed, what a "moran". Mercifully, the neo-con experiment has nearly run it's course to completion, and has failed by all measures.

TehT at May 1, 2007 9:31 AM

Perry is becoming that "Texan" character on the Simpsons who never fails to find an opportunity to blindly fire off his six shooters. In this case the six shooters are his mouth. Somebody should tell Perry: "psst, nobody give a fuck what you have to say on any issue".
As unpopular as Perry has become, he should be the absolute last person in the state that should encourage more people not less to carry a gun,
Fuckin' Tard.

anon at May 1, 2007 11:44 AM

to Yucca...your the moron...first, one gun in the right hands could have ended V Tech...second, the SECOND AMENDMENT has nothing to do with neo-conservativism...

to everyone else...I hope that it scares the shit out of you that a carry around a gun...I hope it keeps you awake at night...and then I hope I save your life because I was packing and some maniac went off...the maniacs are gonna have guns no matter what...the good guys might as well too

Bull dykes everywhere are hating you for this, PinkDome.

Les-boss at May 2, 2007 12:03 AM

If you check your facts, Anonymous, you will find that Tom DeLay made a statement about how students should be allowed to carry guns on college campuses in order to prevent something like the Virginia Tech incident from happening again. I am merely stating that Perry was repeating the sentiment. As far as neo-conservatism in general is concerned - I haven't a clue how they all feel about it, but if you want DeLay to be the poster child for neo-conservatism, so be it (I wouldn't claim him, though)
Carry a gun, if you want - save a life, if you can. Just make sure you are as good with a sidearm as I am - my Daddy taught me.

Yucca at May 2, 2007 9:26 AM

I sure hope carrying guns "anywhere" includes hospitals and public sports stadiums, like Royal Memorial and Minute Maid Park. 'Cause that's where we need 'em the most.

Idiot tool of a governor.
