Saying that continuing treatment would be hopeless and possibly painful, doctors at Children's Hospital of Austin notified a young mother Monday that they will withdraw a respirator from her critically ill baby in 10 days unless another hospital can be found to take him.

So sad...just talked to a friend of mine in healthcare administration and she says that this is actually an ethical practice whereby doctors can rule a patient's condition "medically futile." Each hospital has their own individual policies on whether they can take an individual off of life support without the consent of a family member/designated caregiver. It's also unlikely that another hospital will take Emilio because of the high cost of treatment and the terminal nature of his condition. It's just heartbreaking.

Very, very, very sad case. I can't say it's not the right choice, but your heart just breaks for the poor woman.
