I want to say that I teach about 150 high school students and quizzed them on what was important about March 2 over two days. Not a single one had any idea. Not one. It was a sad, sad day.

I posted the entire text of the Texas Declaration of Independence (which I don't think I had ever read) on my bog to celebrate. It's a fairly nice read, so long as you don't think too hard about what they meant by "property" and ignore the line about the "merciless savage."
