Update: McCall To Endorse Pitts - 90 Names On List

Update 7:15 - Via QR - The LBB meeting tommorrow has been postponed until January 11- any guesses why? Question: If Pitts is elected Speaker on the 9th, does that mean he will go to the meeting as Speaker and not as Appropriations chair? Will there then be a vacancy for the HAC chair? Can he appoint non-Craddickheads before the meeting to replace Hill, Keffer and Turner and himself?

It's on QR, Chronicle and Statesman - McCall will endorse Pitts at a press conference tommorrow, 4 p.m. in the Appropriations room. There will a list released that can have up to 90 names - 70 from McCall and 20 from Pitts.

So...The LBB is meeting tommorrow at 11:30. Pitts will be in the LBB meeting with Craddick along with Keffer, Hill and Turner - all of whom have been very vocal in the press recently about their support for Craddick. Anyone foresee any drama between Pitts and Craddick's towelboys?

Honestly, with appraisal caps rearing their head (see post below) I don't understand why Hill is in bed with Craddick. Whatever happened to local control? Then there's Keffer - didn't he see what happened to his brother for going so far to the right? He always seemed so smart to me. And finally Turner - WTF is he doing calling Borris Miles? How desperate is Team Craddick?

The Pitts concensus is the best thing for the entire house of representatives. I just hope house members will accept the reality that the Texas House of Representatives as a whole want and deserve a legislative process that works for the betterment of Texas. By going with Pitts legislators eliminate themselves of backbiting and negativity and begin working on solving problems for Texas.

Pitts is a good choice. I don't see him punishing either side in this battle. And he has a solid record. Of course, I'm not sure why any sane person would really want the job.
