Pitts Withdraws

What a fucking pansy. I can't believe we sat through this bullshit for this many hours!

Ok. Every single one of you that work up there have to tell us what the fuck just happened...other than the obvious.

Let me begin the healing by offering to take Tom Craddick's Chief of Staff to lunch at the UT Club on me.

BacchusXY at January 9, 2007 5:29 PM

The YouTube video is the best record we're going to get.

Let's remember it come primary time.

TGOSH at January 9, 2007 5:33 PM

mike at January 9, 2007 5:36 PM

vote senfronia!

Anonymous at January 9, 2007 5:38 PM

I am gonna kick Jim Pitts red ass all the way home to Whatapansy, TX.

MS T at January 9, 2007 5:39 PM

he showed he is a stateman because he chose to back out and protect those that were to vote for him. Had he stayed in and those supporters voted for him, Hartnett's amendment would have outed them immediately. They would be in Craddick's aim of fire. Pitts didn't want those supporters hurt by Craddick. Simple as that.

plain spoken at January 9, 2007 5:47 PM

Pitts is a pussy and so are his supporters, if you have the votes you don't need a secret ballot.

That said Patrick Rose is a rat bastard. (Listening to the seconding speaches right now)

BacchusXY at January 9, 2007 5:52 PM

Why doesn't someone propose a HJR this session to enshrine Geren's amendment into constitutional law?

The House members obviously didn't have the guts to openly buck an arm-twisting incumbent speaker. So long as the votes for Speaker are immediately public, you will not see needed institutional changes.

We, the people, through approval of a constitutional amendment, need to take the House back from Craddick, Bob Perry, Leininger, and their ilk.

TGOSH at January 9, 2007 6:08 PM

he had the votes (probably) but as things got closer and the Geren amendment failed, that started the avalanche. Members became afraid of retribution if on the wrong side. It is sad for the entire House of Representatives really. Very few members had the chance to vote their true convictions.

plain spoken at January 9, 2007 6:08 PM

You all know what they said about Pitts and I won't repeat it, but at least he had the balls to make a run. The rest of the people that were doing a lot of the name-calling are pussies.

Pinkdome at January 9, 2007 6:11 PM

He didn't have the votes: he had the 68 who voted against tabling the amendment to the amendment (the one that would have made the vote public after committeeassignments. Once that vote failed, Pitts was cooked.

He did the right thing by withdrawing..Craddick would have gotten over 100 votes had he pushed it.

Blue at January 9, 2007 6:12 PM

I can't stand these democrats that support Craddick. Hopefully we can get some primary challengers for these idiots and our track record of knocking these cowards out ain't too bad. Even Patrick Rose who ain't going no higher in Texas as a democrat.

Tek_XX at January 9, 2007 6:32 PM

Patrick Rose and DD will be the next targets in Central Texas. Cya

Hi@Noon at January 9, 2007 6:54 PM

Can't imagine voting for Craddick, even if he was the only candidate. Mine would have been absolutely a nay.

Cody at January 9, 2007 8:20 PM

Jesus H. Fucking Christ on a Goddamn Popsicle Stick.

We get another 140 day clinic on Suckass Bad Public Policy, sponsored by the Texas Legislature and Texas Association of Bidness.

Fuck! I should just move back to the midwest. Never mind what's wrong with Kansas.

What the fuck's wrong with Texas and our lege?

When's Sine Die? at January 9, 2007 9:33 PM

Please pack up! We need you to go to Kansas! and take your filthy mouth with you.

on the right at January 9, 2007 9:45 PM

Are you guys shitting me? Every D in this state should be doing cartwheels right now that Delay Jr. just kept his post. When the Rs lose the Texas House and are left scratching their asses wondering why, they can trace it back to this moment. These fuckers want to keep up their unethical shenanigans and it will be a carbon copy of what we saw on the Fed. level this year.

anon at January 9, 2007 10:20 PM

Anon is right.

If Craddick continues to play dictator -- and who really thinks that old dog can learn new tricks? -- you'll see the D's continue to make substantial gains in the Texas House... provided, of course, that all of us well-intentioned folks get up from our computers and start working in swing districts come election time.

TGOSH at January 9, 2007 11:37 PM

Fuck Craddick

Filthy Mouth at January 10, 2007 8:13 AM

Where is Jimmy Stewart when we need him. He would have voted his conscience and would have brought a troop of boy scounts to turn votes.

edunat at January 10, 2007 9:17 AM

I remember a leading D strategist's quote a few weeks ago that the best thing would be for Craddick to win. I think he was right. Under Craddick, the Rs have lost nine seats and purged their own delegation of some of the worst Craddick Ds. Still a way to go, but we've come a long way, too.

dd at January 10, 2007 9:56 AM

And dont you blogger go thinking you can fuck with the Dukester!!!
Bring it baby

Dawwna's Left Hand at January 10, 2007 11:04 AM

Hey, What's that term that black Democrats always use for black Republicans, oh yea, I just remembered, house negro, never mind.
