Gerald Ford has died

Former President Gerald Ford died today at the age of 93. He lived to be the longest living President, and so far is the only unelected President to serve.

Regardless if he was elected or not, President Ford served with dignity and honor through some tough timess. This is one Republican I'll miss.

I have to agree. He was delt a crappy hand and there wasn't a hell of a lot he was going to accomplish in two years. He was also among the last to reach out across the isle instead of playing lip service to the concept. RIP Jerry.

He may have been the first unelected president to serve, but I wouldn't call what happened in 2000 "an election." And let's not forget that Ford greenlighted the invastion of East Timor. That's 200,000 deaths on his hands for no good reason.

Is is not correct that Gerald Ford "so far is the only unelected President to serve." John Tyler, Millard Fillmore, Andrew Johnson, and Chester A. Arthur also served as president without ever being elected to the office. What you mean is that Ford is so far the only person to serve as president without having been elected either president or vide-president.
