Shakeup at the Christian Coalition (Again)

As the Christian Coalition struggles to retain relevance, the newly elected president apparently mutually agreed to not take office. The Rev. Joel Hunter, pastor of a nondenominational megachurch in Longwood, Fla., said he resigned as the coalition's incoming president because its board of directors disagreed with his plan to broaden the organization's agenda. Hunter believed that Christians ought to take on the issues of global warming, increasing the minimum wage and fighting global HIV/AIDS, but the Christian Coalition is really just focused on abortion and the gays so they told him to piss off. In pissing off, he simply said, "WWJD?" [WaPo]

Why do you care? This has nothing to do with Texas politics

You're pretty pathetic at hiding your hatred of anything Christian.

Wonk [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 29, 2006 2:08 PM

YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO WRITE ABOUT ANYTHING NOT IN TEXAS!!!! NOT FAIR!!!!

Wank at November 29, 2006 2:13 PM

Yet another fan.

Hmm..and here I thought it was just "politics written with his tongue firmly planted in his cheek"... I missed the "Texas politics" part.

Wonk, it matters because it affects the political discourse of the nation, including Texas. Whether we like or not, the Christian Coalition has a following that continuously brings their issues to the forefront of politics. It's interesting to people like myself to know whether or not they're just going to continue bitching about gays and abortion, or whether they might expand their voice a litle.

Just a thought.

And "hatred of anything Christian" is a bit much. If anything, that shows your hatred of anything critical of the right.

Joe at November 29, 2006 2:57 PM

This just shows how ridiculous the CC is. They're not a christian group - they're a gay-bashing piggy bank for sleaze-bags like Ralph Reed that won't think twice of dividing the nation on wedge issues just to get power and money.

Fuck the christian coalition. Hunter was right to turn down the job.
