Legislation is already being filed for the next Regular. Quick glances tell us we are all in for the same shit, different day in Austin. School vouchers, abortion, and only one bill to raise the minimum wage in Texas. The slew of bills hating on immigrants is going to be impressive next year.
Republican Leo Berman's legislation clearly indicates he has no need for landscaping or housekeeping work at his place. He's not only going after illegal immigrants, but also after their children and if that weren't enough even the people that live here legally should be penalized for sending money back home to relatives in Mexico. That is so rock star.
We went over to the census' website and 34% of Texans are of hispanic descent. Perhaps a better way to woo the hispanic vote might not be to try and run them out of the state. Just sayin'.
We know y'all are busy reading up on the legislation filed and who's filing it a lot more closely than we are. So, here's the deal. Send us what you find. Remember, the world is reading...well a few people in Amarillo read us...and we need your help. Shoot us emails with what you find. Add your color commentary and help keep us abreast of (yeah, I said a-breast) what's getting filed by whom.
Remember, we sometimes send out books and shit to people.
three cheers for rodney ellis for filing his minimum wage bill. (hoorah x 3)
It's about time we had a living minimum wage in this country, let alone Texas.
I'm gonna start calling him E-Rod lol
Why is Frank Corte so obsessed with women's vaginas?! I hope Rep. Farrar files legislation regulating what a man does with his penis.
I love Sen. Ellis. He's my hero.
On another subject, I have mixed feelings about Sen. Deuell's sex offender bill. Yeah for harsher penalties and I'm even okay with the lifetime monitoring piece, but his quote "to keep them out of our neighborhoods..." I mean, I totally get the sentiment. But where are they supposed to go once they are released from prison?
I urge all Reps., D's, R's, moderates of both parties to tell the Speaker (whoever it may be) that they are SICK of dealing with abortion, abortion, abortion every single session. How much time and energy must be wasted on this subject? Sheesh, give it rest, will you.
We know the majority of the House, (yes the majority, R's included) don't want this stuff continually brought up. It brings out the weird skeletors, et al, flocking to their offices. So speak up, will ya?
Has anyone contemplated amending the Penal Code to include a miscarriage as a form of negligent homicide?
Are you listening, Corte? Just think of the direct mail pieces! It's abortion and law and order all wrapped up in one!
HB 23 is equally amusing. Informed consent for emergency contraception! Just to make sure any rape victims know they are murderers too! Clearly little Frank couldn't get laid in high school. What a bitter bitter man . . .
I heard Frank has a mail-order bride. And speaking of anti-browns, what are we gonna get out of that Joe Crabb? I hear he's a real sumbitch.
Keep in mind that Leo was within 500 votes of being beaten by a Mexican in the last primary. I guess there is some hangover there. He wants to eliminate his competition. He is such a moron. I campaigned against him, and I don't even live in his district. Considering he doesn't vote his district I figured it was fair game.
