It's a good night for the Dems

We gave up on watching all but a few races in Texas. (Ellen Cohen, Vo, and Seaman) and turned our attention to the amazing voter turnout and results nationwide. The Dems take control of the House and we'll have a female speaker for the first time in God knows how long. We're holding out for a few more races to see what outcome we have with the Senate, but overall it has been a long awaited victory for those that have been so discouraged for so long.

At the Stephen F. Austin we had so many folks blocking our view of the TV we never could tell what was happening. The cheer that went up when the Dems took the House got our attention as one of our favorite people bought a bottle of Veuve to pass around in celebration. Someone else passed around some shots and RawHide, adorable as ever, took mine because I never mix champagne and some random whiskey shot.

We'll be watching tomorrow to read what all the pundits have to analyze out the results and then we'll tell you what we really think about it.

Nancy will be the first EVER female speaker, unless you include Robert Mercer Taliaferro Hunter. Obviously someone married a few times, the last to his childhood sweetheart.
