Sunday News

  • Must-read 7 page article in the NY Times Magazine on Howard Dean and the D.N.C.
  • Some folks in Austin are all up in arms over a proposed Marriott downtown that would tear down some little restaurant that's been there since 1981. My opinion? STFU. Tear down the building, move the restaurant and put up a friggin monstrosity hotel for Chrissakes. Austin consistently loses out on conventions because we don't have enough hotel rooms. Plus, cities grow. The evolve. Shit gets torn down. Get over it and embrace the fact that Austin is finally getting a city center.
  • The Statesman reminds us that it's been Strayhorn attacking every move Perry's made in the past four years.
  • The Chron has a great story on the sad, sad lives of people in 'dry' counties and the measure popping up on more ballots this November.
