It Took Him 2 Years To Grow Some Balls

John Kerry was giving a speech to some college students in California, and flubbed a line from his speech, saying college students would "get stuck in Iraq" if they didn't work hard in school. The line was supposed to read "Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."

At any rate, Tony Snow and Majority leader John Boehner jumped at the quote and ripped Kerry apart for not supporting the troops and whatnot. Kerry's response:

"If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy," he said. "No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut-and-run policy in Afghanistan and a stand-still-and-lose strategy in Iraq."

"I'm not going to be lectured by a stuffed-suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq."

Doughy Rush Limbaugh? Niiiiice.

Rawhide!!!

it took him two years to grow some balls (I doubt he has them like his wife does) but he still hasn't grown a brain.

plain-spoken at October 31, 2006 4:25 PM

He flubbed the line pretty badly, and his timing couldn't have been much worse, as this will get national airplay. It would have been nice if he had offered as spirited defense of the mischaracterization of his war record.

JUICE at October 31, 2006 4:27 PM

How "getting stuck in Iraq" is an insult to the troops is quite beyond me. I'm beginning to question the validity of my undergrad degree with a major in English. Surely that pendejo who now anchors the NBC evening news, Russert and yes, wonk, are leagues ahead of me. Now to mention Snow, Bush and all the other ambulatory assholes.

Rush is not "Doughy", He's a "Lardass".

Can't Kerry get anything right?

spiny norman at November 1, 2006 8:39 AM

I don't know. Without the Viagra he may in fact be doughy. Heehee

\sorry for the really gross mental image

sadstaffer at November 1, 2006 9:32 AM

I agree that Kerry's remarks were a little... um... "heated" and I commend his decision to stop campaigning to avoid be a "distraction" but I am glad he showed some cajones and spat back at El Presidente. Nothing like a little election-season shenanigans!

TehT at November 1, 2006 9:51 AM

Leave it to the d's to screw up a sure thing.

Wonk [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 1, 2006 10:02 AM

Fortunately, very few people listen to Kerry anymore, and aren't going to be turned from the polls next week. Unfortunately, very few people listen to Kerry anymore and won't be calling Limbaugh "dough-boy" anytime soon. Ah, c'est la vie...

So where are all the douchebags to defend Kerry????

lmao

Wonk [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 1, 2006 5:00 PM

wonk: you are a dirty douchebag

That speach was Kerry's Dean Scream.

Ken Leach at November 1, 2006 9:09 PM

Yes, a tiny bit of a Dean scream moment in that it's a pretty harmless flub that will be flogged to death by lazy media and hyperventilating Republican'ts. Minor flubs are so much easier to cover than actual uncomfortable issues, like, say, the kidnapped soldier we abandoned in Sadr City.

Folks freaked about this one flub losing the elections for the Dems are sitting WAY too close to the screen. You want the upside to Kerry's flub? Every time this gets discussed, the phrase "STUCK IN IRAQ" is repeated.

STUCK IN IRAQ.

STUCK IN IRAQ.

STUCK IN IRAQ.

How ya like that framing?

Tyrone Slothrop at November 2, 2006 4:33 PM
