What's Wong With This Headline?

A quick riddle: What's Wong with this headline? What's wrong with this picture? Hint: They both dropped the "R". State Rep Martha Wong's yardsigns:

Rep Wong's yardsigns uncovered:

Just a thought, maybe instead of being afraid of your constituents you could be proud of them. Go pay Ellen Cohen a visit.

WOW... That is quite possibly the weakest thing I've seen all morning. God I can't wait for November.

TehT at September 26, 2006 9:22 AM

Nice photos. I don't think she can run fast enough awyay from the Republican label since it on the BALLOT!

Eddie R. at September 26, 2006 9:31 AM

She can't help it if there are Democrats that want to vote for her and hide it!!! And yeah November will come and go and not much will change. Republicans will still rule the roost.

inthecloset at September 26, 2006 12:20 PM

Name me one Democrat supporting Martha Wong.

Bill at September 26, 2006 12:32 PM

Well inthecloset, if just ONE republican loses their seat this november then I'll be a happy fucking camper.

TehT at September 26, 2006 1:40 PM

I'll send you pics of all the ELLEN signs in front of the homes of actual voters. All the Martha signs in my neighborhood are in vacant lots!

godmother at September 26, 2006 2:27 PM

The only reason there aren't more Wong signs in yards is the Dems keep moving them. Cohen's getting assistance from the old Debra Danburg machine in that neighborhood.

They've been seen many times pulling Wong signs out of her supporters' yards and moving them into neighbor yards to piss off the people who live there since they didn't agree to a sign. So they get pissed at Wong and think she's littering their yards with unwanted signs.

That dirty trick has Danburg's signature all over it. She used to do the same thing in the late 90's to Republicans running against her. A nasty campaigner through and through, and of course Debra is pissed at Wong for beating her in 2002.

txpundit at September 26, 2006 3:26 PM

Debra Danburg lives in Galveston and doesn't give a shit about Martha Wong's yard signs. The Wongster is scared. Too bad signs don't vote.

Marie at September 26, 2006 4:08 PM

Where did these pictures come from? What's the proof that she taped her signs? Or endorsed taping her signs?

Everything's OK, folks. Not defending anyone. Just asking about the source.

How many signs have tape over them? How do we know it wasn't a stunt by someone who wants to make her look bad (she has plenty of those!) ?

I ask only because I'd love to laugh at this, but it's only funny if its real.

(let it be real!)

drinks_at_the_stephen_f at September 26, 2006 4:25 PM

"Too bad signs don't vote."

LOL!

TehT at September 26, 2006 4:32 PM

They're real. We've seen them in the 'hood. She also has some other signs that don't say Republican anywhere on them, but nothing is actually covered up. (BTW none of the signs I've seen for Ellen or any other candidate say Dem or Rep)

As for the number of Martha signs vs Ellen signs in my part of the district, sorry but your theory would presuppose that there was EVER a Martha sign in front of a house in my neighborhood and they all just were moved by Ellen supporters. I walk and drive this part of the district every day. There are 2 Martha signs in front of houses, 5 Martha signs in vacant lots and about 120 Ellen signs in front of houses. If the evil Danburg gnomes were afoot, they'd have gotten those last 2 Martha signs by now. C'mon txpundit, get real. She's lied to too many constituents and done nothing for the district. Isn't there a chance that people just don't like her?......I know I don't.

godmother at September 26, 2006 5:16 PM

here's an excerpt from yesterday's Houston Chronicle.

"Our campaign has nothing to cover up," said Cohen's campaign manager, Bill Kelly. "From my experience and the campaigns I've worked for, we've never had it (party affiliation) on yard signs. We try to sell our candidate first. In a district like this, people care more about the candidate than they do the party."

If it is about the candidate and their performance then you libs quit bashing Wong until youget all the facts. Vote who you think will do a better job, Wong or Cohen. Quit your bitchin'
