Congresswoman Katherine Harris got some support from her own party when President Bush flew to town and the State Party GOP Chair offered a hug and this statement: "Katherine has overcome tough times. She's a gutsy lady and we love her."
State party officials, including the chair, Carole Jean Jordan, actively tried to knock her out of the race and only since she's narrowly won the primary and the GOP is in danger of losing seats nationwide have they begrudgingly thrown some support behind her.
This is the kind of politics that makes you feel icky. If you were Katherine Harris (don't worry, you'd never be able to pull it off...you don't have the boobs for it) wouldn't you just rather punch the state chairman in the face when she tried to give you a hug?
I can't help but wonder how this would play out in a Lifetime Movie Event starring Miss Jane Seymour and Jaclyn Smith.
