Catty. Chatty. And Occasionally Trashy.

Is it ok to lie if you tell people you're lying four times?

The ABC docu-drama on 9/11 is set to air this weekend. President Clinton and former Clinton administration officials have called on ABC and Walt Disney to 'hol' up a second.' The TV show is apparently filled with 'false and defamatory' scenes, portrayed by actors. In response to the criticism, ABC replied they will air a disclaimer four times in the course of the two-night series. (A longer run than 'According to Jim' ever deserved)

President Clinton criticized the show by saying, "I think they ought to tell the truth,..." and everyone in America laughed at the irony coming from the man that gave us the most famous lie of his tenure, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman."

Tell the truth, don't tell the truth. Hell, the current administration can't tell the truth to save their lives...why should we expect more from ABC?

A docudrama is not meant to portray reality exactly as it happened. It sure is strange that democrats are finally the target of a media venture, though. Bush has to deal with unfair attacks from the media all of the time.

^ Oh what the fuck ever. The Bush Administration has been paying reporters to spread their propaganda, I don't want to hear about "unfair" when the media is OWNED by the corporatations who donate to the Republican Party.

Yeah, what's wrong with ABC? They should be putting out accurate and thoughtful documentaries like Fahrenheit 911 or an Oliver Stone production. You libs were equally up in arms about those, though, right? Oh wait. Guess not.

cherub at September 10, 2006 9:26 AM

^difference--Those are productions you had to pay to see, they were not broadcast on television with limited commercial interruption.

Plus--why would you argue this point at all? If the facts are wrong they do a disservice to the honor of the all the people that have died as a result of 9/11. Why aren't you pissed off that someone isn't telling the truth? Is it because it's not YOUR truth? That's retarded.

Why do you hate America? Are you ok with being lied to?

So, shut the fuck up with your stupid ass liberal whining comments your retarded, mindless fuck. Oh, and another thing...Get The FUCK OFF MY BLOG.

You're mad that someone isn't telling the truth? Clinton, who is up in arms about this, is the modern exeplar of lying to the American people. Michael Moore spreads more lies than ABC, and you don't have to watch the docudrama if you don't want to. The way to punish a company in a free market system in economically. Give it low ratings if you don't like it, but I doubt that will happen.

After last night is no wonder the clintons did want any one to watch.

Clinton clearly has issues with honesty and truthfulness about his personal life, but that should be irrelevant to the ABC docu-drama issue. The real issue, as PD said, is that it shows a lack of respect and understanding about September 11, 2001 to air a tv series about it only 5 years later (don't get me started on the movies about it) and fill it with inaccuracies. Yes, it is a TV show and no one should expect the truth, but this event is too important, too grave, too serious to be taken lightly, and it seems like ABC is doing just that - taking it way too lightly.

sadstaffer at September 11, 2006 9:15 AM

uhm... ham. You are soooo in the minority. 13 million people? You barely beat a repeat on CBS.

The turnout for the movie was as lame as the movie itself and PD is spot on about this.
