Farmers, Environmentalists and Mayors = not as catchy-sounding as Lawyers, Guns and Money

Doesn't sound like anyone is really looking forward to the coal-burning power plants that Perry and his big energy cronies so desire. On my way home from work yesterday I heard this great story on NPR about how these plants will make Texas more bass-ackwards than we already are and why Texans are against them. Towards the end of the story the reporter talked about how in the hearings this fall, the bizarre teaming of farmers, big-city mayors and environmentalists will go up against Perry and the utility companies. Should be something to see, alright.

Yeah I heard that story too. Makes sense to use the modern clean-coal technology. So what if it costs more? The energy companies should take it out of their windfall profits rather than passing that cost on to the consumer, which they will inevitably try to do. :(

I missed the story. Thanks for posting the link.

City Public Service Board of San Antonio got a permit to build a new coal burner but it will be the cleanest in the country. They also are going to retrofit their existing other 2 units to be something like #3 and #4 cleanest in the country. TXU and others could elect to do the same. Being in the top 10 isn't so great when its Mercury emissions we're talking about.

Anyone seen the commercials with kids promoting coal? Saw a couple on primetime the other night. The website is just as charming as the website: learnaboutcoal.org

"Hey, there's even a blog, where you can share your ideas about coal, too!"

Radical, dude! Cowabunga!

BLLLLEEEEEHHH!!!!

Hey, Kimmy!

One can enjoy boobs and NPR - the two are not mutually exclusive.
