Catty. Chatty. And Occasionally Trashy.

Surprise Surprise

Rick Perry just called a special election for Nick Lampson's CD-22, Vilma Luna's HD-33, and Carlos Uresti's SD-19 to be held on election day. The filing deadline is the day after tommorrow. Way to go Rick, too little, too late. After letting Rep. Joe Moreno's Democratic seat go unrepresented through special sessions, he called a quick replacement for what was presumed to be Todd Baxter's safe Republican seat. Then, he let SD-19 go unrepresented throughout the summer, as it was now in Rep. Uresti's Democratic hands. After colluding with Republican strategists and seeing a possibility for Republican gains in Rep. Luna's seat and CD-22, he calls a special election to try and help his Republican brethren.

Just another example of the crooked cronyism this Governor has given us over the last six years. While education, healthcare, taxes and transportation have been sliding downhill, the only thing he's managed to improve is the status of his Republican friends. With any luck we'll be able to put an end to that this November.

First of all WTF, no comments on this?

Second off, WTF why call a special to cover November to January?

Its my opinion that the special election would only fill the vacancy in the office from certification of results until inaguration, so what gives?

I'm perfectly willing to be wrong about this, but I would hope the Governor can't just call a special when he doesn't like the ballot on the general election, then gussy it up by adding replacements for a couple of lap dogs.

its the law the state had no option in the matter.

THe law? Really? Then why did he wait until now?

If you're sayng Perry had no choice but to call for the special elections due to state law, show us the citation.

He called a special because it spells out that bitch's hyphenated name at the top of the ballot. He refused to call a special in June, when DeLay tucked his balls in and quit congress, because the Republicans thought that Tina Benkiser's majesty was enough to remove him from the ballot. When Scalia denied the TRP request for review, the Mofo still had one option to help swing this election to the corrupt, sneaky, Rrepubs. Gotta hand it to the bastards. They are clever.

Ummm, That's great and all, but if I'm right it seems likely to be just as harmful to the Rs because people are going to have to vote twice on these seats, so lets say they do vote for Shelley in the special, and then think they don't have to write her in for the general?

There you go, BXY.
