Sheila Shelly Shelley

Kuff, who's smarter than the rest of us at this stuff, picks up on the story that Shelley Sekula-Gibbs is gonna file to run a write-in campaign as well. There goes the slight hope overly optimistic Republicans had at still being able to hold this seat. Seems Sheila Shelly Shelley doesn't want David naming himself the heir apparent in 2008. Oh well, I honestly don't think either of them is going to matter in a couple years.
note: I misspelled her name three times in writing this post, and when you google her name with different spellings you get all sorts of results. There's no way in hell she's gonna get voters to write her name in correctly on the ballot.

The E slate voting machines only contain letters. Even if you can spell it, they'll have to add a hyphen! And it's not a touch screen they'll have to dial each letter!

Actually, my understanding is that any write-in vote that is a close approximation of the name will be counted for a candidate, as the intent of the voter would be clear.

Not that I want any write-in candidate -- it is a hopeless task. We just need to throw our support to the Libertarian.

I ran as a write in candidate for mayor of a small town in NJ. The first problem was the keyboard, it was in alphabetic order, my techie friends and anyone who had ever used a typewriter or keyboard stumbled through the entry. I heard from several friends that they messed up the vote for me. The other problem was that the incumbent mayor had control over the validation of the spelling errors. I lost the election, and not because of the bad keyboard layout. The layout struck me as a bit of a dirty trick, I forget who manufactured it.

You don't have to spell her name correctly S Gibbs or Sheila G will do. That's the election code.
