Larry, Don't Be A Hero

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality announced they will begin enforcing its penalties and fines for violations. Since 1988 there is something like $17 million in unpaid fines for violations. Are we supposed to applaud Larry Soward over at the TCEQ for deciding to do the bare minimum the agency is supposed to do? We didn't read about the TCEQ tracking down violators, beefing up inspections or leading the charge to improve environmental policies in the state. If Larry were the CEO of a business that had not collected on unpaid accounts since 1988 do you think he'd get a good performance evaluation? Only in state government can you be this incompetent and wind up in the newspaper as a hero for 'cracking down' on something.

y'all ask why we're so cranky. Well, first of all, it's a bajillion degress and my balls are sagging down to my knees and then every time I read the news I learn something new about the gross incompetence in our state government. Plus, I'm all out of Xanax.
