Get your ass back to work!

The long holiday is over. It's time to start getting back into the groove. We're having coffee, nursing a hangover and half-assed perusing the newspapers. Nothing too interesting so far, though. Governor Perry's son has graduated from Vanderbilt and is helping his dad's campaign. He got a job with the New Hampshire based political consulting firm running the campaign. What..no Texas political consultant good enough? (Actually, probably not...they seem to be pretty amateurish here. Someone correct me if I've overlooked some genius political consultant in Texas)

So, I'm off this afternoon to speak to Mark Strama's Campaign Academy. I'm going to be a complete hypocrite and talk about the importance of 'self-editing' yourself when writing a blog. That's rich! I'm also going to talk about how new media can enhance a campaign and the changing dynamics of political campaign communication. (Snore? Ok, maybe I'll through in a few tips on how to find the best hooker while out on the campaign trail)

All hookers aside, I've gotta say that here on the Mark Strama Campaign Academy Blog (God I have to find us a catchier name), we self-edit all the *time.* Will, for one, is CONSTANTLY self-editing me. (It still counts as self-editing when it's Will, right?)

Of course, my attempts to edit other people have met with only resistance. I tried to explain as gently as I could that the correct use of commas is important, but apparently the use of such explanatory phrases as "(*&$(*@#, you slackers" didn't do much to soften my message.

as a tangential conspiracy theory...New Hampshire plays a semi-important role in picking presidential nominees...maybe he's hoping to retain those consultants through 2008...just a thought
