TDP Convention: Attack of the Bloggers!!

While I'm spending the weekend drinking Veuve and having hot sex, a bunch of my great blogger friends have descended on Fort Worth, Charlie's Angels style. Their weapons of choice? Laptops with WiFi access. I'll be following their blogging of the events instead of reading the papers because we know that their information will be a.) immediate and b.) far superiour. (EXCEPTION: Karen Brooks is at the convention so I've heard, she trumps all others in reportage on politics in this state so we can. not. wait. to read her column)

Perusing the blogs this morning, I have to say my absolute favorite was Off the Kuff's Charles posts from yesterday. I always enjoy his blog for its amazing 'newsiness' and yesterday's posts allowed that curtain to fall for just a bit and I felt like I really got to see a Charles that was a little out of his element with his attempts at 'live-blogging' and his wide-eyed'ness at the whole thing. It certainly means I'll be back to his blog for more.

The Bloggers Caucus web site is keeping a cross-posting tab and is a good place to start and then wander off from to check out the blogs. The highlight yesterday was clearly General Wesley Clark's speech to the convention.Vince from Capitol Annex has this quote from the general's speech:

We know that America's national security is not best protected by building fences around America but by building bridges and bringing people togethe,, not tearing them apart. We're Democrats and we're pretty proud of it.

Some other highlights. We've poked fun at Senator Van de Putte every once in a while here, but her speech at the convention and her fights on the recent pharmacy legislation have earned her a place of endearment in our hearts.

Chris Bell finally impresses me with a very strong speech (you can read it at BOR) and it's about damn time, Chris! Give me a strong candidate any day of the week. Here's my favorite quote from his speech, "I’ve got to say, Rick, we’re all proud of Texas. We just don’t like what you’re doing to it." Hell yeah, my thoughts exactly. Chris, put that on a t-shirt STAT!

So far, no reports of hissy fits but it's early yet!

I'm glad the wide-eyed look worked for me, PD :-). You'll be happy to know I got back into my own element today by doing a boatload of candidate interviews. Look for mucho postings on this soon.
