Damn. That's Serious. Was the 2004 election really stolen?

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. throws the gauntlet down with a piece in this month's Rolling Stone that actually had me whincing when I read it.

After carefully examining the evidence, I've become convinced that the president's party mounted a massive, coordinated campaign to subvert the will of the people in 2004.
I know we've talked about this for a long time and it's pretty pointless to rehash it again. What it does mean is that if this is true (and I can't help but think it is) then we have some serious times ahead of us. The system is broken, and as Americans it is our responsibility to fix it.

So, basically, I'm saying what the fuck are you going to do about it? Yeah, you. I totally expect something non-crazy in a project plan on my desk by Monday morning or heads are gonna roll. Enjoy your weekend. [via freakgirl]

umm...duh? I had a stats prof who, the week after the election, had us statistically prove (as an in-class exercise) that at least some of the precincts in northern florida had some votes experienced vote tampering. it sucked the air out of the room. groups were just silent when they got their answers. at an archconservative school.

The best part is that the prof was just like, "ah vell, ness provlem" in his native Chinese accent. He's a communist!

Well, fuck, there's the answer RIGHT THERE! We get the Communists to count the votes!

That's one hell of a conspiracy they've managed to keep quiet about. Maybe Rolling Stone needs the aluminum foil hats.

That's a great story, thanks for posting it. I worked for Kerry in a couple of those counties mentioned in the story (Hamilton and Butler) and I can remember the elation we all felt during the day. We were gonig win, the exit polls across the state, all the calls on the inside of the campaign all day, we were kicking ass. About 9pm eastern time it all came to screeching halt.
The part of the story that I find the saddest and the most true, is that the Democratic Party rolled over and took it all. Those of us on the ground knew something was wrong, even in little Butler County where we kept the Republican 'challengers" under control, we knew they stole it. The party didn't do anything, we didn't get loud, we didn't get angry, we just went home. I drove to Columbus on Nov 3, to fly out the next day and I stayed in a hotel a few blocks from their Capitol. There was a crowd in front protesting, when I got to the hotel to check in there was a big shot party person in front of me doing the same thing. I introduced myself and asked about the protest, the answer I got was chilling. "I don't know, I'm going to bed"

"Despite the problems on Election Day, there is no evidence from our survey that
John Kerry won the state of Ohio."
--Democracy At Risk, by the Democratic Party.

Yes, the system needs work. No, Kerry didn't win. But, if you want to keep fighting the 2004 campaign in 2006, I'm sure the Rs won't have a problem with that.
