The Worst Part About Meeting Mark Strama

If you meet Representative Mark Strama, chances are you'll give him your business card at some point. I know, because this happened to me. If you're in business giving out business cards is just something you do when you meet someone. Mark, on the other hand, believes they are gold! With the simple gesture of giving him your business card you are now a part of his massive email database. Mark doesn't believe blogging helps candidates, but he believes email does. He doesn't even forward funny joke emails or good porn to you either.

Today he sent me a five page long email spinning the Special Session into a "Good for all Texans" kind of message. (My quote, not his) Actually, it may be his. I didn't read the whole thing. I printed it out and took it to the bathroom with me as my morning coffee kicked in. Thank God I did because there wasn't any toilet paper. So, I guess, in retrospect I am glad Mark has my email. It turned out to really help me in a pinch, so to speak.

I got that e-mail, too. Ya see, I actually gave that guy money a couple of years ago, before his big giant ego kicked in. I deleted his e-mail. Did he talk about how he sold out this past special session? Ahhhh...happens to the best idealistic Dems who run as progressives and then vote how Craddick tells them to.

More information than we really need, pinkster.

Switchback at May 26, 2006 11:42 AM

Yeah, I think we should trade Strama in for a gay bashing, race baiting, right wing dickhead myself. He ain't perfect enough. Lighten up guys.

The Other Guy at May 26, 2006 2:49 PM

Wow. tough crowd. Let's not forget that Strama won in an extremely difficult district by running a pefectly executed campaign, only to win by a couple hundred votes. This is not friendly territory.

Maybe we're being a little greedy when we central city libs expect every swing legislator to vote like Naishtat, Dukes and Rodriguez. After all, North Austin more closely resembles Dallas suburbanites than the central city, keep-austin-weird crowd.

Don't worry. Be happy. at May 26, 2006 3:48 PM

I think y'all are being a little sensitive to what was intended as a lighthearted job at our friend Mark. Remember, poking fun of people is what we try to do here. Jesus!

I think they're just responding to Marie's post.

SuperWow! at May 26, 2006 4:56 PM

Yes, PD, we love you. Besides, we need to get the majority before we start infighting. Happy weekend.

The Other Guy at May 26, 2006 5:34 PM

Whatever, SuperWow!! FWIW, I like the Stramanator just fine. But if we can't belittle our elected officials on PinkDome, where can we?

Marie at May 26, 2006 5:47 PM

Let me out of my cage, I am lonley and sad of being ignored!

Pinkdome's Penis at May 26, 2006 5:51 PM

Marie,
Slow your roll. I never made any comment on the content of your initial post. I was merely stating a fact - that the other commenters were responding to you, not PD's initial post.

And you're right - this is the perfect spot to complain and belittle the pols. Hell, I think that's the gist of 75% of my posts.

PD says, Thanks for stopping by, Mark but that's not what your mother thinks!

Pinkdome at May 26, 2006 9:32 PM

Now thats snarkiness. Good post.
