Senator Florence Shapiro is very angry. The Special Session ends May 16 and Flo claims she's got enough votes to kill the crap that's pissing her off.
Shapiro is angry about changes made by the Senate Finance Committee that would increase the amount of money the state guarantees each school district but reduce funding for a high school program for dropout prevention and college readiness that she had championed. She has said the current bill also would unfairly harm some districts with high property values.After she stormed out of the Finance Committee Meeting she tore through the walls of the Capitol Cafeteria and said, "UUUUGGGGH, FLO ANGREEEE."
After a few Xanax she held a press conference dressed neatly in a smart pantsuit and said she would tear this Senate apart if she had to.

Very shortly the question might become: Who do you trust more with the future of education in Texas - the lege or the courts?
History would have to say the courts--unless we can bring back people like Ratliff, Sadler, and others with a brain.
