Yesterday was "A Day Without Immigrants". A large number of citizens and immigrants protested against proposed immigration law changes by skipping work and taking to the streets. We watched the local news last night (yes, ugh) to see their coverage. One of the news stories showed how people were upset that some of the Taco Shack locations were closed, and the camera focused on a note on the ground saying, "Dear Taco Shack, you have lost my business" or something cheesy like that. A friend of ours who works in a restaurant (non-Tex-Mex) said that last night the managers had to pitch in in the kitchen because most of the kitchen-workers hadn't come in.
And that was the whole point of the protest, wasn't it? Could we survive a day without the contributions of immigrants? Certainly it was only one day, and that might not be enough to gauge the effects, but it seems to us we wouldn't get much done without them. Of course, we knew that without needing a "day without" them to prove it.

Wonk--try pulling your head out of your ass and open your eyes to the reality of what would happen if we kicked out all 11 milloin. No dishwashers, people picking fruit and vegetables, mowing lawns, cleaning hotel rooms, etc. Sheesh--how can someone be so blind?
Wonk's forgetting his time in the food service industry and the pervasiveness immigrant labor.
He's also got something like 20/240 vision so that blind crack hit a lot closer to home than you might think.
blah...blah..
Did this day without aliens affect your life?
I bet you didn't notice a damn thing.
I didn't...
yeah, we had people out in SoCal who drove up to LA. They took a 'vacation day' but no one would have fired them anyway.
Apparently you weren't on I-35 at 5:00 when downtown was immobilized and the exit ramps were backed up onto the highway. However, the morning commute was lovely.
I'm talking about this supposed economic impact. It was zero.
And I was on 35-south and 5:00 my commute the the Marcos was no different.
By all accounts, the effects were a mixed bag. Some businesses weren't affected while others were hit hard. It seems to me that a prolonged action (weeks) would hurt the economy.
(Oh yes, the commute was lovely!)

Goodness, PDiddie, that is too funny.
All I noticed was much lighter traffic on the way to work and many less day laborers hanging out in the usual spots. Life carried on as usual for me!
So yeah. Insecure used to be an issue for me. Then it wasn't. Now it is again. If you think you are puzzled, walk in my shoes for awhile.
A second line of fire rose in her cheeks as again Suzanne screamed.

I switched the vibrator off and set it aside. My hips were starting to get sore, so Dangly picked me up & scooted me up the bed. I straightened my legs as he moved his to the outside.
ItÒs simple but effective. They also do other genres. Adolescent poetry is worth a look.

And my collar is lost somewhere in there.
so i figured the best thing to do is offer an inside look to the demon that drives this crazy train, and tell obnoxious anecdotes about my sister, since she's not here to stop me.
With a turn she left the blushing girl at the counter, but not before saying in a reassuring tone, ÓYou really should take him up on the offer. He is very good at itÔ
there are variations on this including adding some carnation milk (my mam) or using horror of horrors margarine. but I like it this way.
i'd like you to untie me now, thank you, i said, in as assertive a voice as i could manage.
Would you like to walk around the markets on Saturday? And, by the way, don't email me again.

Well, IÒm fully back to Trent Park now and struggling to combine catching up with doing new things and unpacking. We have a desperate need of shelving which is currently being thwarted by the system.
These ornate brass lockbusters looked like they opened the door to a secret garden× or maybe Bluebeard's worst room! It was like receiving a box of jewels.

IÒm so glad I still had the best part of a bike in a bin liner in the shed.
I had to ask myself if I could get used to a life like that. How much *exactly* did it bother me that He was not only serving Himself, but serving ME also?
I notice, btw, that we refer to these as ÑfreeÒ CDs but the magazines theyÒre ÑfreeÒ with cost nearly four quid eachÅ
Hanna was just talking about my tooth fairy story and then last night Apoa announced that she too had been experimenting with the tooth fairy.

I'm a good girl. I do my best to follow the golden rule. I floss every night. I love my grandmother. I sponsor a woman in Nigeria. I trap kitchen spiders in tupperwear and free them out in the garden.

My main areas within linguistics are semantics (about the general linguistic meanings of words and things) and pragmatics (about how we work out what people mean in a particular context).
She pulls out the garment tag and reads it. "This is for babies," she scowls. She unbuttons the skirt, slides it on, and it fits.
and he started to come, bucking and thrusting me about in my bonds, the satin sheets complicit.
I've put off this post because it's long and overwhelming. In the porn world, sex infiltrates every offshoot of your life. It takes that kind of infestation for the magnificence to wear off.

I forgot to mention that Donald Davidson also climbed mountains and wrote radio plays (some of which featured Edward G. Robinson). I wonder what heÒd have made of The Dark House?
I finally got round to posting about it on London Language today and found Mai had beaten me to it. I then discovered that the language nerds of the world are all linking to it.
Even with acceptance that it's not my right to have it, that He can and will spill it elsewhere just to drive that fact home, it still hurts.
Plus, I'm supposed to be the quietly accepting slavegirl right? Whether it's locking me in a closet or sending me off to work or expecting me to function without Him, I'm to just obey.

Typically, Master is not aroused during punishment. However, He is a sadist, He was hurting me, I was naked and squirming and moaning. He wanted to fuck.

How exciting is this do you think? IÒm really not sure.
