Just heard something about a deal on teacher pay raises that Craddick and Dewhurst worked out. $2000 across the board, and $1000 in incentive pay. It'll be added to HB 1.

Incentive pay? That dog won't hunt. What's the incentive tied to? TAKS? Grades? Graduation rates? What?

$2000 for the first pound and $1000 for every pound after that.

Flesh, of course.

$1000 is not enough to serve as an incentive. Oh--except as an incentive to vote for these bozos in the fall. As far as retaining teachers, the literature suggests the 1K will do next to nothing.
