Speaker Craddick wants to redecorate his Capitol apartment. Apparently, the $35,000 he spent in 2003 is just out of style now and he's having a hissy about it. The proposed renovations would cost between $500,000 and $1 million dollars. Remember, Texas is the only state in the union that has a 'Capitol Residence' for anybody. Part of the funds, Craddick plans to raise privately, but still...
From what we hear he ought to enjoy the space he's got now up there because the grumblings going on mean come January he might be moving out for good.
DeLay, Bush, Craddick, et al, all the same. Aggresive, mean, holier-than-thou, christian-nazi party members. If you don't think and do like they want or say, you will be destroyed. And they will do whatever they please, regardless of cost in money or human life. Welcome to the republican "party". Are we having fun yet?
Very reasonable conclusions to draw from plans to renovate an apartment. Way to be sane.
I think the Democrats should help with his redecoration project. I'm willing to send a couple of U-Haul boxes to help him move his stuff back to Midland where it belongs. His absence alone whould really spruce up the place.
Yeah, snrub, GIM drew those conclusions from Craddick's renovation plans. It has nothing to do with Craddick's record of macheavellian machinations, his inability to govern, his failure as a Speaker to protect his members., and his politics of power, the public good be damned. The great state of Texas is poorly served by the likes of Craddick. GIM is right. We can only hope Tommy gets his comeuppance in January.

After looking at pictures of this place online ( http://www.tspb.state.tx.us/SPB/Gallery/hidden/01.htm ), I now see why there are so many special sessions and consequently why nothing gets done. Craddick is at his pad showing it off to the ladies.
Pitts is telling everyone he is the next speaker.
Oh come on everyone tries to fix up their house before they move out.
And now I read in that shithole of a rag called the Statesman that there is a call for a "living wage" for those sons of bitches we call legislators. They have the BALLS to give themselves a raise, then entertain another call for higher pay...for a group of cocksucking asshats that can't pass a stool, much less a legitimate bill. Fucking unbelievable!
Fiscal Conservatism at its best!
