John McCain: National Disgrace

We used to think that John McCain was kinda smart...a presidential contender. Remember when he used to criticize the Bush Administration? Now, he's suckling at their teet. Remember when he said Jerry Falwell was an "agent of intolerance"? Well, looks like he's flip-flopped on that one. He'll be speaking at Falwell's Liberty U graduation.

Falwell says they are now in bed together like two gay cowboys. Falwell said McCain has expressed a willingness to support a Federal Marriage Amendment, an issue dear to conservative Christians.

Oh, the Kool-Aid...it claims yet another.

I am really disappointed. No hope that he's taken the gig in order to lampoon the insitution and Falwell? I guess not...This sucks!

National Disgrace thats a bit much.

i dunno, wonk, i think it's pretty disgraceful when a man who made a career out of being an independent thinker totally changes course and becomes just another lapdog. it's surely a disappointment. but maybe it wasn't so unexpected given mccain's voting record even during his "maverick" days. it's still a bummer.

McCain is and always has been very conservative. He's just a favorite of the media, thus allowing him to develop these "maverick" and "independent" labels that still follow him around. His most recent attempts at gaining the good graces of the uber-right only show his true self.

Read Krugman for more McCain truthismisms. Click my name.

To reiterate something that I said the other day. Can we really take him as a serious Presidential contender? He's going to be 72 in 2008. That would make him OLDER THAN Reagan when he started his presidency.

Cody at March 28, 2006 3:40 PM

his age doesn't matter - unless his vp sux.

texxas redd at March 28, 2006 5:49 PM

You seriously believe that age doesn't matter in this race? It may not be the deciding issue, but I certainly think it is and should be a factor. A lot of people look back and realize that Reagan probably didn't know a lot of what was going on in his last few years in office and that scares them. McCain would be older and in worse physical condition than was Reagan when he entered. If he were to win and get re-elected he would be 80 years old upon leaving.

Cody at March 28, 2006 6:41 PM

Rove is going to take McCain down again - just wait. My little voices are telling me Cheney is going to head up the ticket in 08....

texxas redd at March 29, 2006 7:49 AM

So he of the 18 percent approval rating is going to win the presidency?

Uhh.

Fine Bottled Water at March 29, 2006 10:13 AM

Err, win the Republican nomination. Damn defeatist attitude creeping in again.

Fine Bottled Water at March 29, 2006 10:13 AM

McCain has to pander to the extremes because moderates do not contribute enough money for him to keep his rhetoric moderate.

Paul at March 29, 2006 10:27 AM

I doubt anyone will read this now...Warner for President.
