State Sen. Eliot Shapleigh, D-El Paso, is taking the unusual step of publicly opposing a colleague by endorsing a challenger in a Texas Senate district reaching from San Antonio to El Paso. [SA Express-News]
We heard this was gonna happen back on Monday *wink to our tipster* and could not wait for the opportunity to post our favorite photoshop ever!

We think this 'no holds barred' approach by Shapleigh is refreshing. The 'elite club' of the 31 Senators is only as good as its members. Now let's see what Uresti can do with this.
Love that photo - If only he were king of the forest - he wouldn't have to worry about the donkeys chasing him.
We obviously love this photoshop. We've trotted it out at every opportunity. :)
Dear Website Snob: Uresti will win this race because he is a real Democrat and Madla is a corrupt tool of the Republicans. Web sites are nice, but substance is a lot better.
Thanks 1) for the lecture and 2) for beating down that strawman. I never said that Uresti won't win the race or that he lacked substance. So take a second and breathe.
I certainly hope Uresti does win for the reasons you've listed above and more. But a decent website *does* help in that whole winning thing.
Furthermore, since when are substance and a good website mutually exclusive?
I love you and your pics. They always make me laugh. I can just imagine Madla saying "put 'em up, put 'em up" and then running away.
I thought Madla was just a tool. Now I find out he is a Republican tool. What is this world coming to?
You have to admit, Uresti's quote about a debate was a good shot:
"This would be a good opportunity for Mr. Madla to introduce himself to the district ..."
The Shapleigh endorsement is HUGE, it should carry at least 6 or 7 votes to Uresti. The Lon Burnam of the Senate. Clueless.
There is no worst democrat that the one that sticks with the republidorks in key issues that we so dearly hold. However let us not forget that we live in the South and our democratic views may not be as liberal as the ones from democrats from the east, so stop being idealistic. For years before Sen. Madla rose to the occasion, we were "left behind" in less affluent places than El Paso, such as Uvalde, Eagle Pass and Del Rio. You could draw a line on the Texas map 70 miles from the border and find that there were no competent medical centers or educational facilities for higher learning from that line south.
Well I'm more than sure that Sen. Madla is looking out for me and my family's interest here in Eagle Pass. We are finally looking like a decent border city thanks to his support.
As per the fact that he hangs out with republidorks, it's foolish to mislead the public into thinking that in order to reach a compromise one has to jam down the throat of the opponent one's stance. That's why we have a legislature to work out the best possible interest for the people the senators and legislators represent.
Sen. Madla is doing a great job in obtaining the best possible results with the Republidork/Democrat composition of the Texas legislature. It is novice, amateurish and naive to even think you will get results in a bipartisan legislature just by sticking to your own guns. That's a sure path to becoming a danger for the people you represent since you will be able to obtain close to nothing out of it.
In regards to the Gay & Lesbian issues, our Great State held an open election and the votes were cast and the people of Texas decided. We have federal rights protecting us against discrimination based on our sexual orientation, so stop sounding like there's no protection against discrimination. Should the government stay away from our bedrooms and more focused to see if we have food on our table, I definitively agree. There should be no erosion of our individual rights; and I have yet to see the bill which Sen. Madla voted against my interest by eroding my individual rights. (I can say K. Hutchinson did as well as that other dork Bonilla)
So Uresti should run, but against the Repulbidorks that are holding our federal legislature seats. Unless he's afraid of running against the real enemy, or he feels comfortable being a puppet for Shapleigh.
As per Shapleigh, it's overstated what he really wants to achieve. He wants to be a suck-up for the republidorks. My CI (confidential informant) mentioned to me that Shapleigh had an elevator chat (very brief) with a republican senator who can’t stand Sen. Madla. He knows that Sen. Madla is an obstacle for him to be the most senior senator in the state, that's why he is trying to get him out of office. That's a LAME reason to go against a good democrat, so FUCK OFF Shapleigh. *moral of the story……look who’s in the elevator before you talk*
HAHA. I was just looking for that picture when you posted it. An intra-Senate split, and amongst Democrats at that. Well, I don't necassarily know if Sen. Madla is actually a Democrat, but this is still fun.
