Mark Strama Sends His Holiday Wish

Rep. Mark Strama sent us an announcement email that he is filing for re-election to District 50 for the House. We look forward to all y'all in District 50 supporting Rep. Strama. He was certainly one of the standouts in this freshman class. Go to his web site and sign up for his fancy emails or better yet, go spend some of your holiday cash by donating to his campaign.

Can someone outline how Mark was one of the standouts in this freshman class?

(1) He put his entire political career on the line and voted against HJR 6. He didn't make that vote out of political calculation, but simply because it was the right thing to do. He has the courage to follow through with his convictions. How many Democratic State Reps can say that?
(2) Rep. Strama played an important role in serving as an honest broker on the Civil Practices Committee. Too often "tort reform" issues break down into an us vs. them fashion. Rep. Strama put his constituents and Texans first and found common sense solutions.
(3) Rep. Strama was the catalyst for securing significant tax relief for the Canyon Creek Neighborhood in NW Austin. He worked with leaders on the Austin City Council to mitigate the legacy of double tax in that neighborhood.
(4) Rep. Strama kept his promise and filed a number of ethics reform bills. His bill preventing CAMPO members from appointing lobbyists as their proxies was passed into law.

Along with those facts, isn't the fact he is the cutest Rep help too?? ;-)
