A Day That Will Live In Infamy

Nope, President Bush wasn't impeached and you just weren't paying attention. Today is Pearl Harbor Day. We just thought you ought to spend a second and remember with a moment.

I was at the Memorial in Hawaii right after Pearl Harbor Day 3 years ago. Until I got there, I never knew how many veterans who lived through that day actually chose to be buried on the site of those ships. The Punchbowl -- the National Cemetery of the Pacific -- really is amazing, too. Ernie Pyle is buried there. Hopefully, if the weather holds out, I'll be back in Honolulu tomorrow. Cross your fingers. I'll have a tan for that holiday party yet, PD.

That explains why the History Channel had all those shows about Peal Harbor today.

Seriously though, people should take the time to learn more about it. So few seem to actually know what happened that day despite the fact that several major Hollywood movies have been made about it. We'd do well to learn and remember the names of the men who lost their lives that day.

Every American should go to Pearl Harbor at least once.

Before I get to the snark below: nice post. I hope every one took a moment today to think about Pearl Harbor; I know I did.

I was watching CSPAN just now and they were replaying President Bush's speech at the Council on Foreign Relations today. He started doing the obligatory "I appreciates" then moved on to this:

"Today, as you know, is a day that lives in infamy in American history. On Septemb--December 7, 1941, the United States suffered..."

Poor guy; he's said September the Eleventh so often, every day sounds like it.
