Special election soon in California?

A source tells The Associated Press that Congressman Randy Cunningham will plead guilty to tax violations. The California Republican has been under investigation regarding a real estate transaction in his home state. We've read about this story before. It sounds almost as unbelievably stupid as taking corporate money for statewide campaigns and funneling it through a national party..D'OH!

The Republicans now control all three branches of government - as well as most state houses. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

My only hope is that the Dems run candidates that are viable and winnable in '06 - not a bunch of left-wing nut jobs. Our country works better and politicians are somewhat kept in check with two strong and active parties.

they were corrupt before they got into office.

Is it just me, or is the apparent degree to which there is a lack of ethics among Republican office-holders unusual? I don't recall this many pols of one party being under investigation/indictment ever. And see there I thought they'd never do anything really well.
