I received a PowerPoint slide show, which I will upload in a bit here, all about Christopher Combest. He's over there in Iraq right now fighting for freedom and when he gets back from his tour he's going to fight for freedom here in Texas by running for HD 106.
Good for him for serving his country and protecting our freedoms. But has he ever been in 106?
Who is Combest? Never heard of him. Has he ever stepped foot in the district?
Combest has been too busy eating MREs in Iraq to eat rubber chicken and Grand Prarie chamber of commerce dinners.
So no, over the last year he hasn't spent a heckuva lot of time in HD 106.
How about in the year before that?
Stop hating on him because he is serving his country in Iraq. He has more balls than most of you people.
Combest willl be a great candidate. Polling shows Iraqi vets have a huge advantage over any other candidates. In addition, he has no baggage like others. This is very exciting.
I hear he may not be able to officially announce until after he stops ducking bullets. Hopefully, eveyone will hold off until he gets back to give him the chance to prove himself.
Yeah stfu ya loud mouth pricks!
lol
Chris Combest - god bless him - is listed as a "suspense" voter in Tarrant County - check it out - http://inet.tarrantcounty.com:8010/ElectionCGI/gac1fw1p. This means the "Good Democrat" hasn't voted in forever in Tarrant County - um where he lives (note not in District 106). And his wife Gerry - votes Republican. Hmmmm... maybe the brilliant power brokers who recruited him should at least check out his voting history.
"Iraqi vets have a huge advantage over any other candidates" - Ray Allen was state rep in 106 for 13 years before announcing he wouldn't run again. "Polling" in the district showed he only had a 27% name recognition. How many of those 27% knew a damn thing about him. Messages work for Congressional candidates but not in state rep districts where mail and personal contact are all you get - no tv in 106 folks. Chris could be the guy who found Osama Bin Laden and blew his brains out - and folks wouldn't know or care.... as they straight-ticket voted. The vet power thing is a fallacy in these type of races.
gerri (note theres not a 'y' in her name) has never in her life voted republican. what foolish nonsense is this? Get the facts straight before you run your mouth. Combest has served his country in every way possible. Anyone out there who calls themselves a patriot, is at a good age and health, and is not over in Iraq or in the Military at least, is a fool.
if you only knew this man you all would definitely give him your vote and full support.
Actual polls conducted in North Texas in the last month SHOW that Iraqi vets do significantly better than other Dems. This is not guess work. It is fact. DO you want a Dem to win or not? Do you want a stable, proven leader who can keep his head under pressure and make us proud, or a unstable lunatic who has already proven they cannot win?

I think it is great that a person serving our country in Iraq has been moved to not only get involved and make a difference, but actually run for office. It seems to me we shouldn;t hold it against people when they have not been involved before since our whole goal is to get as many new people involved as possible. I say way to go Chris. Thanks for again standing up for us here at home.
Chris Combest is being fooled by his handlers. Chris doesn't realize that he is being lied to over and over again about the District and the woman who will eventually win the nomination and the seat. And any polling in the 106th is not truth or "fact". Why doesn't Chris run for Toby Goodman's seat or Goolsby's seat? I'm sure "polling" would show Chris doing better than the women running in those districts. The difference is personal. His handlers simply have personal and political issue with Katy Hubener because she supported the ouster of Susan Hays. In North Texas we have over 10 districts where Chris could run - including the one where he and his family live now - why seek to topple a Democrat who earned 47.5% of the vote last time where John Kerry got 8 points less? That's 8% crossover vote folks. She'll be winning it this time.
I thought Katy said again and again and again that she was not running. I don't know about anything having to do with Hayes, but I do know that many, many people question Katy's stability. It would be a disaster to have a Dem elected that ultimately did a disservice to the Dem cause. Also, I understand that a lot of the money support Katy got last time has been pulled. She's been told they will not support her this time. She is a damaged candidate.
People's views can alter over time as they become more knowledgeable of their political sphere. I was raised in a conservative middle class family that made it clear to me as a child that the only way to go was to vote Republican. As I got older and had a better understanding of political platforms and how the government operates, I was finally able to establish my own individual stand points. After an immense amount of time reflecting and considering each platform, I realized that I did not have the same opinions as those shared by Republicans.
As far as Mrs. Gerri Combest and her voting epublican is concerned, she has since grown as a woman and has continued her education. She now has a precise understanding of the government and has the right to decide the side that best represents her views today. In my opinion, Mrs. Combest will be a wonderful asset and supportive partner in her husband's pursuit for District 106.
I gather from the above that Katy still hasn't gotten a life.
Yes, a comment on this stream that is not anonymous! I have personally known Katy Hubener since 1993, and she has been dedicated, consistent, and solidly on the same message for every day of those years. She has consistently worked tirelessly for progressive, Democratic causes. If that's not stability, what is?
Except when she screeches hysterically at meetings . . .
I'm sorry your stable war vet dropped out of the race, and I notice you're not reporting it. You can call Katy unstable all you want, but it ain't gonna make it true. You can call Combest stable all you want but that's not going to change the police report that says he went out gay-bashing with his hooligan friends and beat up not one but AT LEAST TWO guys outside a gay bar. He had to take anger management, unlike Katy. Combeat also could not follow clear orders about not campaigning while on active duty. Can any one of you explain his views on a single subject? What was his stand on choice? hate-crimes? civil rights? labor issues? property tax relief? school finance reform? NO you can't explain his views, You NEVER met him. You were just hoping that he didn't have a thought in his head and would do exactly what his handlers said. Is this what Democrats want for the legislature? You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Oh, and by the way, Gerri has voted republican, she's never voted Demoratic in her life. Some of us know how to look up a voting record before opening up our mouths.
by saying gerri has neve rvoted republican, i mad e amistake, but christopher beat up one man and had good reasoning for it, he is pro gay-rights and supports gay marriage fully and has never had a problem with gay people for being gay. but being in the situation he was in, i believe he may have slightly over reacted, but did not go out gay-bashing with his 'hooligan friends,' ive been around him far more than you have, your a fool tom. and he dropped out of the race because of his active duty position. so dont call him unstable nor say that he cannot obey orders, you contradicted yourself completely there.
My dad is a good man and he will do whatever is right for you. He is the best darn democrat that i have even known. be happy he has been fighting for our freedom because my dad is a brave and loyal soldier who will die for our country.
Having served in Iraq with Chris, I have spent many an evening arguing politics and religion with the man. While I only agree with about 60% of his views and logic, I would vote for him on the basis that he does things from a rational basis, and he firmly beleives in what he does. For this alone he has my respect and admiration. As for him or anyone in his family voting Republican, Libertarian, or Communist for that matter, the Combests strike me as people of character who vote with their brains, and would support whoever supports their views and interests over someone who just happens to have a (D) by their name. In case anyone is wondering, I am a RNC member who thinks only an idiot would blindly vote a straight ticket.
tom sucks
My LT can whoop yalls ass and them some. Fuck em Lt Hooligan Bastards forever.
Chris will be running for District 106, not 108 as stated in your headline.
Chris is a good Democrat who has served our country bravely -- he'll make an inspiring candidate and a dedicated public servant.
