The president's speech tonight interrupted my day of suffering through a massive champagne hangover. His broad plans for recovery and claim that the rebuilding effort will be the biggest in the history of the world worked on me for about 15 minutes and then my pickled brain went, "Wait a minute. Who the hell is gonna pay for all this shit?"
Y'all discuss in the forums or the comments.
Such sarcasm. I mistakenly posted my reaction to the speech under yesterday's "Rove" item. So that you don't have to tax yourself fooling with your mouse, it reads:
You know I'm not a fan. But I have to say I thought it was the best speech he's ever given in his entire career. Forceful, surprisingly articulate, and he never once said "folks." (Really. If he had said "rescue folks" or "Louisiana folks," I would have screamed.)
From here, we'll all be watching for specifics. If some of the speculation is correct that we're talking about private ownership of otherwise public buildings like schools, elimination of capital gains taxes as part of the plan for economic development, waiver of environmental rules, or basically anything engineered by the Heritage Foundation, uh oh spaghetti-o's.
Your newly found concern for the American taxpayer is heartwarming.
