You Won't Have Me To Kick Around Anymore!

Rep. Bob Griggs is holding a press conference starting at 10am this morning where he is announcing that he will not run for re-election.

Also, another press conference is scheduled at the conclusion of Rep. Griggs' where Kelly Hancock is announcing he is running for the seat. Kelly is a longtime school board member of Birdville ISD where Dr. Griggs was the former Superintendent.

Looks like our cookies and begging didn't work. We suck.

You don't suck. And neither did the cookies! ;-)

Griggs is just one of those people who wants to get into this problem, fix it, then move on. He's not one to argue for two days, pretend to want change and then blame the other guys for not marching to the beat of his drum.

Given the choice to continue driving down here twice a week to answer roll call and then do nothing, or to hang out on a tropical beach drinking drinks with little umbrellas in them, I can say I would *not* pass on the sand and little umbrellas.

I never met the guy, but enjoyed watching him on the House floor from my office. I am sad to see him go. Thanks, Bob. Sorry you couldn't stay longer.

I can say that Bob Griggs is one of those representatives who truly represented his district and his convictions. He was not afraid to tell it like it was, nor was he afraid to vote against the leadership, when he thought they were out of step. It is truly unfortunate that we don't have more members, Democrat or Republican, just like Bob Griggs. I hope his dedication to public education will not be forgotten and will be the mantle that his replacement holds high. Good job Bob Griggs. The teachers, parents, and students never had a better friend.

Truly one of the good guys who came to Austin to make a difference and actually solve problems. I am very sad that people like Dr. Griggs get trampled on in the political stampede. If they were all like him......oh well, it was a nice thought.

Kronberg sure had nice comments on News 8 Austin today.
