I've never really thought of comparing Iraq's General Assembly and the Texas Lege. That is exactly what this Daily Texan opinion piece has done, stating that "both are in a heated frenzy trying to craft legislation deemed critical to the state's immediate success, and both face the same potentially negative compromises because of that furor."
A little random? It brings to mind DeLay's comparison of Houston to Iraq.
Unrelated, but funny: The Days of our Legislature article in the Monitor.

You know, normally I think those UT kids are right smart. Was one myself, once.
But last I checked, passing a school finance plan was a hell of a lot more complicated than overseeing the birth of a country and the crafting of a constitution amidst extremist religious factions, sectarian and nonsectarian violence, and the slaughter of American soldiers. But maybe its just me.
The TX Legislature couldn't find their ass with both hands.
Bluebonnet rocks my Apache bells and Indian Paintbrushes!!!
Awww, bb, Yucca's flirting with you!
I'll take all the flirting I can get!
Seriously, though, I'm pretty sure "Yucca" is my best friend.
Fine-tuned? I think the monitor needs to... look at the situation better.
