Rawhide and PinkDome discuss the Ellis/Etlife ed. bill:
PinkDome: We hear Ellis/Etlife bill is going to be ONLY pay raise, pass through and textbooks. They are not going to get bogged down in the other stuff. I wouldn't call it a finger, necessarily. It is more a "let's get out of here alive" type of fallback proposal. They think that, at the end of the day, there will be no agreement on anything broader than this, so let's do this and call it a day.
Rawhide: well there ya go, do what ya can & get out
PinkDome: lazy bitches
I think what Eltife and Ellis are doing is what the super majority of senators want to do.....pass something that is reasonable and get the hell out of dodge. Unfortunately, Lt. Gov. David "Can Do" Dewhurst does not like the idea b/c he will not get credit for it. Eltife and Ellis strive to do what is right, while "Can Do Dewey" is more interested in how he will look to the average Texas voter during his re-election campaign.
The last I remember, textbooks HELP students in their studies, which improves education!!!!!
Perry's comments at the "news conference" were also pointed toward elections. Are all these guys totally clueless? Are we crazy enough to keep electing these people who care nothing about anything but elections?
At least Eltife, Ellis and company are trying to cut our losses and run. Our Governor thinks the money we are spending on these useless sessions is justified. What!?!?!
Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey's Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
It is time to get on down the road.
