After coming to an early climax in bill passing last week, it's looking like the Lege is rolling over and going to sleep. The Speaker is telling members to go ahead & go to Seattle, there is no sign of a House calendar, and the Dew "all but declared the session dead in a press avail after the Senate session today." Seems like any remaining legislation would have to jump a few too many hurdles to stand a chance, and it just ain't worth doing.
It's not poor leadership, it's no leadership. Special interest Gov. Perry has to go.

Nancy Fishers flight out is tomorrow late morning, it has not be cancelled...what do you think that means. School children should never get in the way of fresh salmon. Teachers health care and salaries should not get in the way of 70 degree golf. I am not attending... but any blogger that does should go to the Texas Hospitality Suite and grab a copy of the sponsors and post them , then a review of how their legislation came out would be in order. I know that SBC is sending their Army and has Tee times every day.
Bah, humbug. Second verse same as the first...
Dos, exactly. I hope we have someone there. PD is suspiciously on the west coast???
I'm so sad. We can't have possibly allowed our esteemed leaders to screw us once again! I thank the higher powers every day that I'm not one of the saints working in education
But if they would have passed any of the proposed legislation it would have been primarily focused on lowering taxes. Do the math: legislators are on record as wanting lower school property taxes and pay raises for teachers. Impossible. schools are really in trouble if legislators educated here don't know the difference between addition and subtraction. If teachers are to get a much-needed raise, they're not going to get it from tax relief. I wish the media would stay on lawmakers about the fact they gave themselves a pay raise, however, even while they couldn't do this for teachers.
So much for redistricting: that a Republican majority insures unity.
Can we start putting money together to send someone to Seattle? I'll throw 20!
okay wizard...i'll match your 20...
Are we sending a member of the leadership?
Is it a one-way ticket??
Sending PD, Bluebonnet, or Rawhide there to cover it...
You mean, there is a leader in this motley crew of a website?
Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey's Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
Woo Hoo! Let's go to Seattle!
